During each session, drivers work directly with an instructor in real traffic environments while developing essential driving skills such as steering control, braking, lane positioning, parking, turning, intersections, traffic awareness, defensive driving techniques, speed management, observation habits, and decision-making. Behind-the-Wheel 6 Hours for Teens
This package provides the required six (6) hours of behind-the-wheel instruction necessary to complete the North Carolina Teen Driver Education Program. The required instruction is completed through four (4) structured 90-minute driving sessions designed to help teen drivers build safe driving habits, gain real-world experience, and develop the confidence needed to become responsible and independent drivers.
To support continuity of learning and skill development, sessions should be scheduled as close to consecutive days as the student's schedule allows whenever possible. Consistent instruction helps students retain information more effectively, build momentum, reinforce safe habits, and reduce the anxiety that can occur when long gaps exist between lessons.
Instruction is individualized based on each student's current experience level, comfort behind the wheel, and overall readiness. During lessons, students work directly with an instructor in real traffic environments while practicing essential driving skills such as steering control, braking, lane positioning, parking, intersections, speed management, observation skills, defensive driving habits, and safe decision-making.
As students gain confidence and demonstrate readiness, lessons may gradually introduce more complex driving situations including heavier traffic, commercial areas, lane changes, multi-lane roads, and highway exposure. Our instructors focus on creating a calm, supportive, and structured learning environment that allows students to develop skills at a pace that prioritizes both safety and long-term success.
This package is especially beneficial for teens who may be nervous, inexperienced, neurodiverse, or in need of additional support and confidence-building behind the wheel. Students must provide a valid Classroom Completion Certificate showing completion of the required thirty (30) hours of classroom driver education instruction prior to beginning behind-the-wheel training.
