Road Test for Teens
Please note that all road tests will be conducted from the office location (7980 Chapel Hill Rd Cary NC, 27513). Be sure to select only this option when scheduling your period.
This service provides a vehicle and support for teen drivers completing the North Carolina DMV Level II driver's license road test using the Exceptional Driver Services' vehicle. The session is designed to help drivers feel calm, prepared, and comfortable throughout the testing process while using a safe instructor-approved vehicle.
This option is intended for teens 16 and older who have been in possession of a valid North Carolina learner's permit for a minimum of 9 months and are prepared to complete the official DMV Level II driving test. Prior to testing, the instructor may provide a brief vehicle familiarization and answer questions to help reduce anxiety and improve overall comfort before the road test begins.
Requirements for this service include:
- Driver must be at least 16 years of age
- Have held a valid North Carolina Level I learner's permit for a minimum of 9 months
- Completed the required 60 hours of supervised driving

Road Test with Prep Lesson for Teens
This service includes a focused behind-the-wheel preparation lesson followed by the North Carolina DMV Level 2 road test using the Exceptional Driver Services vehicle. The session is designed to help teen drivers strengthen important driving skills, improve confidence behind the wheel, and feel more comfortable and prepared before completing the official DMV road test.
Students utilizing this service must possess a valid North Carolina learner's permit for a minimum of nine (9) months and must have completed at least sixty (60) hours of supervised driving practice prior to testing.
The preparation lesson allows the instructor time to review common North Carolina DMV testing expectations while observing the student's current driving habits, confidence level, and overall readiness for testing. Instruction may focus on parking, intersections, lane positioning, observation skills, speed management, defensive driving habits, vehicle control, and safe decision-making in real traffic situations. The lesson also provides students an opportunity to ask questions, work through nervousness, and become more familiar with the vehicle prior to testing.
This service is especially beneficial for students who experience anxiety before testing, need additional confidence-building, or would benefit from structured review immediately prior to the road test. Using a familiar, instructor-approved vehicle often helps students feel calmer and more comfortable during the testing process.
Following the preparation lesson, the student will complete the official DMV road test using the EDS vehicle. Our instructors work to create a supportive and encouraging environment while continuing to prioritize safety, readiness, and responsible driving habits throughout the process.
